Since its founding in 2007, Manhattan Mission Church has continued to fulfill its primary mission of saving souls and making disciples through monthly evangelistic outreaches to the streets of Manhattan, centered on Korean international students, and annual short-term missions to South Dakota Native American Reservations and overseas (Mongolia, Japan, Honduras, Costa Rica).
As the first pioneer pastor, Jae Won Choi, returned to Korea to embrace the youth of Mongolia and Korea, the second pastor, Hyun Seok Bae, took over as the senior pastor of Manhattan Mission Church.
Throughout its history, New York City has been a major point of entry for immigrants. In 2005, nearly 170 languages were spoken in the city and 36% of its population was foreign born. English remains the most widely spoken language, and New York is the largest city in the English-speaking world. Demographers estimate that New York’s region population will reach 30 million by 2030.
As a city minister, many times I have observed the peoples’ trials, suffering, needs and desires. The people are individually excellent, expert and intellectual people. However, many of them suffer from feelings of guilt and inferiority deep inside. In this competitive city, they must know the love of God, His forgiveness, His patience, and His unconditional love.
People need the love of God. Manhattan Mission Church is welcoming you to come and be a part of our family. International Mission (IM) is waiting for you. Take part in God’s love and our love for you!
— Rev. Jae Won Choi
