예수님이 세상에 모습을 드러내신 것은 태어나고 30년이 지난 후였어요.

30년이라니 정말 오랫동안 참으신 거예요! 그렇죠?

Jesus appeared to the world 30 years after he was born.

30 years! Can you imagine how long it is? He’s been so patient.

드디어 예수님이 세례를 받으시고, 온 세상에 멋지게 등장할 때가 다가왔어요.

그런데, 성령은 예수님을 사람들이 많은 곳이 아니라, 아무도 없는 사막같은 곳으로 예수님을 몰고가셨다고 해요.

Finally, the time has come when Jesus was baptized and appeared wonderfully in the world.

However, it is said that the Holy Spirit took Jesus to a desert-like place where there were no people!

이상한 일이죠. 이제 세상에서 멋지게 하나님의 아들이라고 선언하셔야 하는데.

조용히 혼자 40일 이라는 힘든 시간을 쓸쓸하게 보내야했다는 것이.

That's weird. Now, in the world, He must declare that He is the Son of God.

But He had to spend the 40 days alone, quietly and lonely.

그런데, 여러분!

올림픽에 나오는 선수들, 멋진 발레리나도 다 그런 시간들이 있었어요.

멋지게 사람들 앞에 나서기 전에 무대 뒤에서, 아무도 없는 곳에서

아무도 바라봐 주지 않는 곳에서 준비하는 시간이 있어요.

그리고 대부분, 그렇게 준비하는 시간이 훨씬 더 길어요.

However, friends!

All the athletes in the Olympics and the beutiful ballerinas all had those moments.

Behind the scenes before you go out in front of people,

There always is time to prepare in a place where no one is watching.

In fact, most of the time, the preparation time is much longer.

정말 중요한 건, 예수님이 그때에도 함께 해주신다는 거예요.

30년을 기다리셨고, 또 다시 40일 동안 광야에 혼자 계셨던 예수님이기 때문에,

예수님은 우리가 준비할 때, 기다릴 때 느끼는 쓸쓸함도 너무 잘 아신다는 거예요.

But, the really important thing is that Jesus is with you even at that time.

Because it is Jesus who waited 30 years and was alone in the wilderness for another 40 days,

Jesus knows too well the loneliness we feel when we prepare and wait.

예수님이 광야에 혼자 있었을 때 마음이 어땠을까요?

엄마도 보고싶고, 외롭고, 답답하고 정말 힘든 시간이었을 거예요.

What do you think it was like when Jesus was alone in the desert?

It must have been a very difficult time for him to miss his mother, and to be lonely and frustrated.

예수님은 하나님 아버지를 생각했을거예요.

광야로 나오기 바로 전에 하셨던 말씀을 생각했을 거예요.

“너는 내 사랑하는 아들이다. 내가 너를 기뻐한다.”

Jesus must thought about the Father.

He must remember what the Father told him,

“You are my son, I am well pleased with you.”

우리도 그런 날에 예수님을 생각하면, 예수님도 똑같이 말씀해 주실 거예요.

If we thought about Jesus when we feel lonely, He will tell you the same.

“너는 내 사랑하는 자녀란다. 내가 너를 기뻐한다.”

“You are my beloved child, I am well pleased with you.”

그래서 우리도 길게만 느껴지는 준비하는 시간들이 지나면, 그 광야를 나올 때에는

예수님과 더욱 가까워져서 나오게 될 거에요.

So after the preparation time that feels like a long time for us too,

One day we will surely come out from the wilderness with Jesus.

그러니까, 준비하는 시간이 길게 느껴지고, 혼자인 것 같을 때

예수님을 생각해봐요.

So, when the preparation time feels long and you feel alone

Think of Jesus.

예수님이 우리를 위해서 40일을 광야에서 혼자 음식도 먹지 않고

보내신 날들을 생각해봐요.

Jesus spent 40 days alone in the wilderness without eating.

Think of the days Jesus spent there.

그 광야의 시간이 지나고, 예수님과 손을 꼭 잡고 함께 걸어갈 우리의 모습을 꿈꿔봐요.

Imagine we are holding hands with Jesus more strongly after the wilderness.

Prayer

사랑하는 하나님,

예수님도 쓸쓸한 때가 있으셨고, 오랫동안 기다리셨다는 것을 알게 되었습니다.

우리도 그럴 때가 있겠지만, 우리 마음을 잘 아시는 예수님을 생각하며

잘 기다리고, 잘 준비하게 해주세요. 혼자일 때도 하나님을 생각했던 예수님처럼,

우리도 그럴 때 예수님을 생각하게 해주세요.

우리를 잘 아시는 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다.

아멘.

Dear God,

We learned that Jesus also had a lonely time and waited for a long time.

There may be times when we do too, but thinking of Jesus who knows our hearts well.

Help us wait well and prepare well.

Like Jesus who thought of God even when he was alone,

Let us also think of Jesus in such times.

We pray in the name of Jesus, who knows us well.
