[1 Corinthians 10:31, NIV] So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

여러분에게는 어떤 일이 가장 중요한가요?What is the most important work to you?

아마 학교에서는 숙제를 하는 것? 시험을 보는 것? 그런 것들이 중요하겠죠?Maybe doing homework? taking the exam at school? Those things are important, right?

집에서는 어떻죠? 책 읽는 것? 피아노 연습하는 것? 운동하는 것?

How about at home? reading a book? practicing the piano? exercising?

아니면 엄마, 아빠를 도와주는 거? 청소하는 거?Or helping mom and dad? cleaning?

모두 다 중요하죠.

All of them are important.

학교에서는 학생으로서 중요한 일이 있을 거에요.

집에서는 부모님의 자녀로서, 또는 형제나 자매로서 해야할 중요한 일들이 있지요.

There are going to be important things at school as a student. At home, there are important things to do as a child of your parents, or as a brother or a sister.

친구들과 운동을 하거나 놀러갔을 때에는 친구로서 중요한 할 일도 있을 거에요.

그런데, 그 모든 것보다 더 중요한 것이 있어요.

When you go to exercise or play with your friends, there will be important things to do as friends. However, there is something more important than all of that.

우리 모두는 인간으로서 마땅히 해야 할 중요한 것이 있어요.

그게 무엇인지 어디에서 찾아볼 수 있을까요? 

We all have important things to do as human beings. Where can I find what it is?

하나님의 말씀! 성경이겠죠?

God's Word! It's the Bible, right? 

성경을 열심히 연구한 많은 목사님들이 모여서 사람에게 가장 중요한 일이 무엇인지 함께 정리를 한 것이

웨스트민스터 소요리문답인데요, 여기에서 이렇게 말하고 있어요.

The Westminster Shorter Catechism is what many pastors who studied the Bible diligently gathered to organize what is most important to people.

“사람의 제일 되는 목적은 

하나님을 영화롭게 하고 영원토록 그분을 즐거워하는 것입니다.”

“Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.”

어떻게 하나님을 영화롭게 하고, 영원토록 그분을 즐거워 할 수 있을까요?

How can we glorify God and enjoy Him forever?

첫째로는, 하나님을 영화롭게 하는 예배를 잘 드리는 것이에요!

무엇보다도 예배를 사랑하는 사람이 되어야 겠지요!

First, it is a good way to worship that glorifies God! 

Above all else, you must become a person who loves worship!

주일은 7일 중에 가장 중요한 날이에요. 우리가 모여서 예배하고, 다른 날들 보다 더 많은 시간 하나님을 생각하는 날이기 때문이에요.Sunday is the most important day of the 7 days.

Because it is a day when we gather to worship and think about God more than other days.

그렇지만, 다른 모든 날들에도 하나님을 생각해야 해요. 성경은 먹을 때에도, 마실 때에도, 무슨 일을 하던지 하나님을 위해서 하라고 하셨지요? 

However, on all other days, we must think of God. The Bible tells us to do it for God, whether we eat or drink, or whatever we do for God!

그 말은, 항상 함께 하고 계시는 하나님을 생각하면서 말하고 행동하라는 뜻이에요.

It means to speak and act while thinking of God who is always with you.

하나님과 함께 말하고, 생각하고, 행동하는 것! 그러면 실수도 훨씬 줄게 되고, 더 착하고, 용감하고, 멋진 사람이 될 수 있겠죠. 예수님이 함께 해주시니까요!

Talking, Thinking, and Acting with God! You'll make a lot less mistakes, and you'll be a nicer, braver person. Because Jesus is with you!

어떻게 여러분도 하나님을 영화롭게 하는 사람이 될 수 있나요?

하나님,

우리 아이들이 어려서부터, 하나님의 말씀을 배우게 해주시고, 예배하게 해주셔서 감사합니다. 사람으로서 가장 중요한 일은 하나님을 영화롭게 하고, 영원히 하나님을 즐거워 하는 것이라고 배웠습니다. 그렇게 주일에 예배드리는 것을 무엇보다 기대하고, 기뻐하며, 일상을 살아갈 때에도 무엇을 하든 주님의 영광을 위해서 하는 우리 아이들 되길 원합니다.

그래서 우리 아이들을 통하여서 주님 영광 받으시길 소망합니다.

사랑하는 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다.

God, thank you for our children to learn the word of God from early ages and to worship You. We learned that the most important thing as a human being is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Above all else, let our children look forward to worshiping on Sundays, and do whatever they do in their daily lives for the glory of the Lord. 

So, I hope that the Lord will be glorified through our children.
